Sirocco Restoration

A short while ago I took delivery of a couple of yachts in need of some serious TLC, as you can see from the photos the smaller of the two yachts had some major hull issues mainly quite a bit of rot and surface issues. The first task was to prep the hull this involved treating the surface prior to being sealed and then prepped for re-painting, as you can imagine this took quite some time but, in the end, the new paint job turned out very well. With the hull now re-painted I moved onto sorting out the deck area and then replacing the sails and rigging with all new items as well as fittings.

The second yacht as you can see from the photos was a far bigger job due to the fact the hull was in 2 pieces and no keel attached; the first job was to rebuild the hull sections this involved quite a bit of realignment due to the sections being in a pretty poor state of repair. Once the hull sections were securely fixed, I could move onto making a new keel for the yacht and permanently re-attaching it to the hull, I could then move onto prepping the hull for recoating in a wood finish as requested. Now with the hull finished I could move onto the deck area and then the fittings before fitting the new sails and rigging to finish off the model.

Overall, these model certainly had some major challenges but I think the end results are well worthwhile.
