Model Restoration Ship And Boat Projects

The Revenge Restoration

A few months ago I was given a restoration to complete that certainly was different to my normal type of work. The model itself was quite small but well detailed, but the thing that made it unusual was the display mounting which was a cast iron flag from another vessel. As you can see in the photos the model did need some TLC, the main thing was some damage to the masts and rigging. The first thing to put right was the broken masts which after some delicate work were soon completed so I could move onto the rigging, this process proved to be a bit fiddly having to replace all of the original ropes with stained new ones as well as a lot of the fixing points.

Now that the actual model was finished I could move onto its display base this would just require some gentle cleaning and then re-varnishing as requested by the customer. With all the work now completed this certainly proved to be a very interesting restoration of a most unusual subject, overall very pleasing.
