Model Restoration Ship And Boat Projects

Unknown Ship Restoration

Towards the end of last year I took delivery of a model in need of some TLC and restoration but leaving the paint work etc as original, the model itself was in fairly good shape with just some minor damage and in need of a deep clean. The first job was to carry out the repairs to the masts and various other fittings throughout the ship taking great care during this process not to damage any of the fragile fittings etc.

This as you can imagine took a fair time to achieve but once completed certainly improved the overall appearance of the model, during this process I also had to make several replacement fittings which had been lost or damaged beyond repair. Once the repairs were complete I could start on the deep clean process which would be very time consuming and fiddly as you would expect but using various tools and methods the job was eventually finished, the only job left to do was to apply a light coat of Matt varnish to protect and enhance the end result followed by a final check to make sure everything was ship shape.

Overall this proved to be a very satisfying restoration to be enjoyed for years to come.
