Leon Olin is a recognised artist who studied at Leicester and Brighton Colleges of Art from 1957 - 1962. He lectured in drawing and painting at a number of colleges before deciding in 1974 to attempt a living as a professional artist.
For two years he lived with his wife and fellow artist Sylvia Gainsford in a motor caravan which was equipped as a mobile studio and travelled Britain from St Ives to Cape Wrath, selling his work as he went. They have recently written a book about their life during this time, this is due to be published in Spring 2011, the book contains a number of reproductions and line drawings.
In 1976 he settled in Kent working mainly to commission and in 1984 produced a number of reproductions of his paintings as limited and unlimited editions.
From 1993 - 2005 he and Sylvia owned a gallery in Fishguard Pembrokeshire, which is where we first met them.
Leon has very kindly agreed for us to sell signed and numbered limited additions of one of his paintings Tall Ships exclusively on this website, along with a number of maritime prints.
